Financial Times

The Financial Times is a British international business newspaper. In United Kingdom this is read as a morning daily newspaper published in London that cast a deep impact on the financial policies of the British government. This newspaper is also considered as one of United Kingdom’s popularly followed daily newspapers. It is a periodic newspaper and is published in United Kingdom’s 23 cities.

The Financial Times was founded in the year 1888 by James Sheridan and his brother. By the year 1945 the newspaper became famous as an independent editorial outlook. At time the newspaper also attacked the financial policies of the British government. The highly circulated newspaper is also believed to be one of the world’s highest financial newspapers. In fact the Financial Times is the only paper in the UK providing full daily reports on the London Stock Exchange and world markets. On January 9, 1888 the newspaper was launched as the London Financial Guide by Horatio Bottomley. On February 13 of the same year the newspaper was renamed as the Financial Times. Initially the newspaper was published as a four page journal from its headquarters in London. The initial readership influenced the financial community of the City of London.



In no time the Financial Times newspaper was established as a reliable source of ‘stockbrokers’; it was also termed as the ‘parish magazine of the City’. In course of time the newspaper developed in size, readership and breadth of coverage. The newspaper also established a chain of correspondents in many important cities of England. The Financial Times through its network of reporters reflecting early moves in the world economy towards globalization. On 1 January 1979, the first publication of Financial Times was printed outside the UK rolled off the presses in Frankfurt.
